The essay revisits four of Tzvi Medin’s main books on the history of ideas: his intellectual biography of Leopoldo Zea, his approach to the thought of Abelardo Villegas, his study of the influence of José Ortega y Gasset in Latin America, and his examination of the links between Zea and Ortega y Gasset. Medin’s work is placed in the tradition of Mexican historicism, highlighting an interesting interplay of reciprocal illuminations between the authors.
